Subject: Invitation to contribute key sociological concepts for TASA advocacy guide
From: TASA

Help shape TASA’s advocacy resources:
key concepts from thematic group conveners
Dear ~~first_name~~,

I am writing in my role as Equity, Inclusion and Advocacy Portfolio Leader regarding an initiative to develop advocacy resources for members.

The aim of this project is to support members in communicating sociological ideas in clear, accessible language for non-specialist audiences, and in presenting sociological evidence and arguments to the broader public

As a first step, I would like to develop a short guide translating key sociological concepts into everyday language, with examples of how these might be used in advocacy.

With this in mind, I am inviting you, as a thematic group convener, to nominate up to five key sociological concepts that are most relevant to your field and likely to be useful in an advocacy context (for example, concepts such as social cohesion).

These will then be compiled and developed into plain-language definitions (with support from my research assistant), and made available as a resource on TASAweb.

If possible, could you please send your suggestions by Friday 12 June to c.a.martin@curtin.edu.au with Key Sociological Concepts in the subject line.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,

Cathy Martin
