Good morning youth thematic group members,
Following our previous discussion and survey regarding what you want out of the thematic group. We are are pleased to announce an upcoming informal presentation. Carly Hawkins, from the Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC) UNSW, has kindly offered to be the first to share insights from her current research. With the thesis title Factors influencing the experience of education for refugee children held in Nauru offshore immigration detention, Carly's research examines Australia's offshore processing policy for asylum seekers and refugees. She looks at how the policy impacted education experiences for children and youth who were held in indefinite detention for many years.
The presentation will be on Tuesday 31st October, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM(AEST).
